London-based producer Dark0 has signed to XL Recordings, kicking things off with an EP due out at the end of the month.

The Oceana EP follows releases on Visionist’s Lost Codes, Mr Mitch’s Gobstopper Records and last year’s Solace EP on Rinse. The 25 year old producer has matured his style even further with this forthcoming material, moving on from the instrumental grime sound he’s become known for and coupling the familiar hypermelodic synths with pop elements as well as powerful strings and ominous rumbles.

The 4 track EP features rich soundscapes that emulate the unique relationship the artist shares with his environment, with productions that aim to be “warm, sorrowful yet optimistic”. Tracks examine London’s “illusions of grandeur, mired by hypocrisy and a false sense of security”.
