Trainer Of The Week | Saucony X Hanon Shadow Master Midnight Runner

Each week we will be speaking to our friends at The Drop Date and will ask them to pick their “Trainer Of The Week” to feature in our newsletter. There are no other rules other than we have to feature a new style each week, this week The Drop Date have chosen the: Saucony X Hanon Shadow Master Midnight Runner. Click HERE to check out more from The Drop Date.

Aberdeen’s HANON SHOP keeps on burning – so their motto says, and based on their latest collab with Saucony we’d find it tough to disagree – the SAUCONY X HANON SHADOW MASTER MIDNIGHT RUNNER are fire!
Saucony
First seen in March, the Shadow Master is a fusion of two Saucony archive runners, with the upper of a Master Control placed on top of a Shadow 6000 midsole. Whilst Saucony have used this concept before (with Alife for 2009′s Jazz Shadow pack) it’s never been done with these models before, or to such good effect. The 6000 sole unit with the distinctive heel-blocking pattern is one of Saucony’s most recognisable, whilst the Master Control upper features some great panelling with a distinctive forefoot wave. The original Hanon Shadow Masters were an exercise in great materials which teamed grey and black subtlety with a blazing orange lining, making for a really bold first team up between the partners.

Part II, dubbed the ‘Midnight Runner’ is again a showcase of premium materials – the deep black saddle and rich purples of the toebox and mudguard sections are finished in high grade sueded pigskin, with full-grain perforated leather providing some contrasting texture around the collar and tongue. The satin nylon lining provides the vivid colour pop, along with the killer touch – colour-matched 3m Scotchlite hits on the toe and heeltab.

This is a great versatile colourway which can snap necks when rocked with the teal laces, keep it subtle with the purple pair, or look reminiscent of the excellent Hanon NB1500 ‘Chosen Few’ when worn with the white – Hanon has thrown in all three so you can pick your poison. It’s this kind of attention to detail along with the quality of the materials that lets you know you’ve got something special. True to form, Hanon have once again brought the goods proving again that they’re masters of the collab, while Saucony continue to demonstrate that they know exactly what they’re doing with their lifestyle range.
