This week’s ‘Trainer of the Week’ is the The New Balance 1400HB Made In The USA ‘Catcher In The Rye’ in Black/Red which follows the US574MD ‘Moby Dick’ in Navy/Red as the second style from the ‘Author’s Collection’ to drop at Wellgosh under the ‘Made in the USA’ bracket. The ‘Author’s Collection’ is a series from of silhouettes from New Balance that pays homage to American literary classics through classic styles manufactured in Maine. New Balance are currently the only Athletic Footwear manufacturer producing trainers in America, making the ‘Made in the USA’ styles the most limited and sought after silhouettes produced by the brand.
The New Balance 1400HB Made In The USA ‘Catcher In The Rye’ in Black/Red pays homage to one of the greatest works in American literature: J. D. Salinger’s ‘Catcher in the Rye’. The novel is referenced through the palette applied to the 1400HB incorporating the red, black and white that appeared on the original cover of the novel. The latest Made in the USA iteration features a black suede and mesh base, with further black suede overlays applied to the sidewalls and heel. The 1400 is accented with pops of red appearing on the ‘N’ quarter branding, woven tongue branding, heel embroidery and midsole accent, with grey 3M detailing on the heel tab and heel counter. Underfoot the external heel counter and Encap cushioned sole unit offer stability and cushioning, maintaining the high level of performance functionality synonymous with the archive runner, providing an intricate blend of performance and premium features.
