This week’s ‘Trainer of the Week’ is the Asics Gel-Saga Christmas Pack Santa in Burgundy/Dark Brown. The Gel-Saga drops alongside an Elf inspired Gel-Saga colour-up and a Snowman influenced Gel Lyte III. The three silhouettes compose the second Asics ‘Christmas’ Pack after the concept was introduced on shelves last Christmas.
All three silhouettes appear in similar palettes to the hues that appeared in the 2013 Asics ‘Christmas’ Pack, opting for an overall more subtle aesthetic throughout the seasonal pack. All three models are decked out in a colour-blocked construction with contrasting toe-boxes.
The Asics Gel Saga is a classic running style that originally released in 1990. The Gel Saga is an iconic Asics silhouette, appearing under numerous guises, in limited edition trainer packs and in collaborative constructions and palettes. The Gel Saga is a staple retro-reissue lifestyle option, offering a cleaner, simplistic alternative to the popular Gel Lyte III; which was made popular by it’s split tongue tooling.
The classic running model appears in a Santa inspired palette for this festive offerings of three retro runners; referencing the colours that appear on St Nicholas’ belt, with a rich blend of red, white and black hues. The upper is assembled from a luxurious burgundy suede base accented with a contrasting cream toe-box, the festivities are pursued with a pop of vivid red on the perforated suede sidewall, a pop of gold below the heel tab and black sidewall and quarter branding shadowed with bright red underlays. Below a white gel-cushioned sole unit offers a clean break in the festive palette, complete with seasonal coloured flat hiking laces.
All three styles featuring in 2014 ‘Christmas’ Pack are now available in-store and online at Wellgosh. Both colour-ways in the Gel Saga retail at £99.95 and the Gel-Lyte III Christmas Pack Snowman in Light Grey/Grey retails at £109.95. All three trainers are ideal for Christmas gifts or perfect for getting into the festive spirit this year. To avoid disappointment buy yours before they end up someone else’s stocking.
