London-based producers LV have a new album forthcoming on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings.
The experimentalist duo have collaborated with Armenian pianist Tigran Hammasyan on a full length LP due out later this year. Having first played alongside one another after a special Maida Vale live session for Gilles Peterson’s BBC Radio One show, the artists found enough time in the studio to focus on an instrumental album.
The record continues LV’s tradition of collab-ing with musicians from varied and sometimes unexpected backgrounds, using the jazz pianist’s skills on the keys to explore the capabilties of their electronic sound. Jump And Reach, the “only track on the album where [they] consciously tried to make it a track to play out” has been made available to stream & purchase now. Tigran leads the track with a lively and infectious riff performed on a wurlitzer piano, layered expertly with synths and harpsichords from the production team.
Before signing to Gilles’ label, LV have released several times on Dusk + Blackdown’s Keysound Recordings, and have a body of work with Benin City vocalist Joshua Idehen, most notably their critically acclaimed debut collaboration ‘Routes’. Will from LV will be playing in Sète this week as part of Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival.
Jump And Reach is out now on Brownswood Recordings, look out for the album coming later this year.
