News | Machinedrum | MASKYA EP | Big Dada

Machinedrum remixes material from SK Simeon and Yaw Faso on a new 4-track EP.

After previously working together in 2014 on Lisbon’s Enchufada imprint, the MASKYA EP sees the American producer link with the two Melbourne-based artists on Big Dada RECORDS, fusing dancehall, afrobeat and reggae styles with his trademark electronic flair.

Each remix on the EP is strong enough to stand up by itself: Opening track Doper Than Dope is a frenetic future dancehall cut, with vocalist SK Simeon barely pausing for breath whilst toasting throughout the three minute track. Yaw Faso’s All Of Mi Life is a more laidback affair, recreating classic dub sounds for modern dancefloors with Machinedrum’s technical know-how. Ram Dancehall is a raggamuffin call-to-arms, whilst Memories is a feel-good summertime jam fortified by junglistic breaks and powerful bass stabs.
