News | Roots Manuva | Bleeds | Big Dada
British musical pioneer Roots Manuva is back with a new album, coming out this Autumn on Big Dada.
His sixth studio album, Bleeds is being publicized by the label as the “most emotionally affecting and powerful release” since Roots’ breakthough record Run Come Save Me. It’s genre defying content is a return to form for an artist that’s previously worked with a huge selection of varying characters, from U.N.K.L.E, to Gorillaz, The Maccabees and Coldcut.
This time Roots, known personally as Rodney Hylton Smith has drawn upon production assistance from young up & comer Fred, with features from industry heavies Adrian Sherwood, Four Tet and DJ Switch’s new production outfit With You.
The record’s title is, in his own words, an “egocentric jest of daring to do things in the tradition of Jesus: I’m ready to bleed for the artform.” and a commentary on the nature of Manuva’s music and its tendency to bleed genres & influences into “liquid soul, the blood, the bleeds that paint infinite sacred wonders in our dreams and unfold in our day-to-day.”
Tracks One Thing and the Four Tet produced Facety 2:11 are available to stream now. Bleeds is out October 30th on Big Dada Records. You can preorder on vinyl, CD and digital formats here.
